- New! Patented drive system capable of delivering up to 85% greater pulling power!
- Directly connected hydraulic cylinders without toggle linkages for longer service life.
- Reel unit with 30” lateral (L-R) movement for quick, easy pulling and spooling.
- Heavy-Duty, over-wound winch with built-in slack tension rollers for operator safety.
Dejana’s new Hub Drive Cable Puller offers a revolutionary new truck design for the
removal of underground wire and cable in the utility industry, The new body was
developed in close cooperation with public utility companies, and offers a variety of patented design features to increase capacity, provide trouble-free performance and improve service life.
The new patented reel drive system is unique in that it is all hydraulic with a direct drive crankshaft powered by two hydraulic cylinders on each arm. The hydraulic lifting cylinders are directly connected to the arms without any linkage providing less parts, less breakage, and longer service life. Both arms can deliver 200,000 inch-pounds of torque each (or a combined 400,000 inch-pounds of force), which means that using a 84” diameter reel, the drive system can pull up to 20,000 pounds.
In addition, the reel drive, when fully extended and under full power, can be moved laterally as much as 30 inches in either direction. This feature gives the operator much greater flexibility when positioning the truck on the job site by allowing him to avoid obstacles with the reel unit. It also facilitates even spooling and provides off-set or side-pull capability when installing and removing cable.
The winch is designed with an over-wound winch cable that is free from any obstacles on the deck for better operator visibility. Incorporated with the winch is a unique winch line pulling sheave that can be hydraulically adjusted and features a built-in slack tension rollers to take up cable slack for operator safety. The reel and winch systems are designed with a proportional controlled modular hydraulic system that incorporates a variable flow, pressure compensated pump with a low volume hydraulic system that requires only 30 gallons of hydraulic fluid.
Overall, the truck is designed for heavy-duty operation with a low deck height that is clear of obstacles, convenient compartments with large storage capacity and complete safety features.
